8.00am - joint bcp communion at sullington
9.30am - service of morning prayer at thakeham with sunday school for the young folk
for those who don't know, 'bcp' stands for the book of common prayer which is basically a service book of extremely traditional language. it lasts for about 30 minutes, has no hymns and is really for those who just want a short quiet, traditional communion - it's not for the faint-hearted.
the main service at thakeham this sunday is a service of morning prayer. it's the same format as the old 'matins' service, but with a more modern approach - in language and structure. the service doesn't have a communion in it, and although there is a particular format to the service, we hope people will find it accessible, relaxed, and relevant. there will be a supervised sunday school in the church room which will run alongside the service in church for any children that join us.
we also have harold linfield speaking at our main service today - he always seems to have an interesting take on the bible - and usually gives us something to think about that we probably hadn't previously thought - i'm not sure whether that says more about his style, or whether that's just harold in general (have you ever tried one of his quizzes?
we believe the church here in thakeham exists to serve one another, the community and ultimately god. we always welcome anyone and everyone to come and join us at any of our services - we're really trying and hoping to build a real sense of community and togetherness within the church - we'd love to see you there.
