8.00am - joint iona communion service at thakeham
10.30am - family communion at sullington - with george cockman speaking today
the early morning service is an iona communion, held at thakeham church. the service is a short 30 minute reflective eucharist written in a contemporary style. there's a true richness and depth to the simplicity of the liturgy with an emphasis on god's acceptance of us as we meet together.
the main service this week at sullington is a joint family communion service as it's a 5th sunday, and as always, everyone is welcome to join us. if you have youngsters, some of the content isn't that child friendly. so we do provide a space for any young people that come along to feel they are invloved and looked after. there's usually a walk that takes place for our young folk, with a time of reflection somewhere on the downs. they then join us the rest of the church for the communion towards the end of the service - ultimately, we think this is much better for the kids rather than them having to sit through a service that perhaps doesn't bear much relevance. it's once again an opportunity for both churches to meet together and support one another in their work.
we believe our churches here in thakeham and sullington exist to serve one another and the community, and by doing that, we're ultimately fulfilling our mission to serve god. we're constantly trying to make church, relevant, interesting and accessible for everyone - so the community aspect of being together and sharing is really important to us.
if you're interested, we'd love to see and meet you.
