10.30am - 'all age' service at thakeham
the early morning service is an iona communion, held at sullington church. the service is a short 30 minute reflective eucharist written in a comtemporary style. there's a true richness and depth to the simplicity of the liturgy with an emphasis on god's acceptance of us as we meet together.
the main service this week is our 'all age' communion service at thakeham church. the service is very informal and relaxed, with a variety of hymns, prayers & reflection - the key though, is whether you are familiar with church or not, the contents is friendly, accessible and relevant to all those attend - then after the service there is coffee & tea served in the church rooms.
the theme for our 'all ages' services througout 2015 is: 'the christian abc - according to the gospel of st. mary's thakeham.' the idea is that we are looking at a different letter each month which represents a word that resonates with us here at church: c = christ, j = journey, f = forgiveness...you get the idea. so, we take a different letter each month, and focus on that throughout the service, through our sung worship, a video, a talk - i suppose it's just a different way of sharing, learning and being together - just what we believe church is meant to be really.
our aim here at st mary's thakeham is to be people with a meaningful faith who serve the wider community, as well as one another, with the attitude jesus had. which is why our missions statement is: 'aspire to christ and community'. we are really trying to build a sense of community by caring, supporting and encouraging one another and we would love to welcome you at any of our services.
